alltray is a useful tool for X environment on *nix. with alltray you can dock any application into the notification area(system tray).

unlike pidgin who has a native tray icon and it still running in the background after you close the main window, for example evolution, there is not a native tray icon. when you click the close icon(X) on the top-right of the interface the program intance exit from now, but that is not what you want.

what can i do for that? alltray!

i have installed the port of alltray on my FreeBSD, and start evolution when i login the notebook with command “alltray evolution” at the xorg startup script .xinitrc. it is running as what i want, and its main window does not disturb my work while it watch my email acount.

wow, i start my music player with alltray too…

how magic it is!
